A lean, mobile-first community platform redesign project for a global environmental nonprofit organizing repair events and advocating for the right to repair. Redesigned for greater usefulness and usability, based on audit and research with various types of users. The Restarters.net community member platform integrates a Discourse forum module and a Wiki, but the site very much appeared to be three separate sites with significant navigation and usability challenges.
UNICEF | policy user research
In-depth user research with over one hundred International Professionals at UNICEF, to improve their experience with a challenging staff policy that mandates international moves (and change of post) on a regular basis.
Media Cloud | news media analysis
In-depth user research with funders and creators of documentary media to explore potential usefulness of Media Cloud in their work. Project scoping, heuristic UX and learning experience analysis including input on complex data visualization functionality, user interviews, user workshop with journey mapping and other collaborative exercises, in-depth user research report, and Getting Started guide with new instructional method for beginners.

Rapid prototyping for mobile-first pitches and short projects. Total time spent, Discovery through handoff: Bloomberg - 10 hours, ChuckECheese pitch - 30 hours, Toyota pitch - 16 hours.
Baron | broadcast meteorology software
Highly complex scientific and media arts desktop (Windows) and gestural (for on air-usage) application redesign. Led UX team, and was primary client interface for:
- Extensive on-site user research with TV meteorologists all over the U.S.; compilation of findings and development of insights

Planet OS | API service landing/ pitch, dataset portal
Based in the USA and Tallinn, Estonia, Planet OS is an API provider and custom integration service that gives a wide variety of users the ability to work easily with multiple earth science datasets in the creation of applications for sectors such as renewable energy.
I focused on engagement as well as usability issues for browsing a large number of datasets and testing out the API.
